London - Day 3

Today was our last full day in London before we head to Europe.

After hanging out while Anna called in interview confirmations with a handful of people who applied for jobs at her dad's cheese shops we headed out for the day.
Due to the G20 protesting we decided to head north to Hampstead on the train. We ate breakfast at a small cafe called Polly's before heading up a hill in a large park and through a really charming neighborhood that Anna once had a job in. It was really fancy and the roads were winding and fun to wander around. Anna showed us a huge mansion of a building that was very expensive apartments.

We decided to stop at a small pub for a drink and we talked about what else to do during the rest of the day as well as make fun of the differences between the British and Americans. After much deliberation we settled on making our way down the hill and stopping at a crepe stand. On the way Anna became distracted by a horrible pink fairy and unicorn shop. I wish I would have taken a photo of the front while I stood outside waiting, but I took this picture of Amy outside of the flower shop across the way instead.

Then they got crepes, and I stood around.

After we had enough of the quaint perfection of Hampstead, we hopped on a bus and made our way to the Natural History Museum. During the trip Amy decided to count the number of girls she saw wearing black tights because she noticed when we got here that the majority of young adult and younger girls were wearing them and it started driving her COMPLETELY INSANE! Even though Anna proved her completely right by putting two pairs of black tights on, she still felt like disagreeing on the issue. Amy counted 35 on the 20 minute bus ride.

The Natural history Museum was HUGE and FREE like I mentioned in the last post.

We saw dinosaur bones, and a bizillion other crazy looking skeletons (very scientific descriptions I know). Here is Amy and Anna seriously discussing some sort of skeleton.

A bunch of birds?

A blue whale?

Amy and I?

After the NHM we hit the V&A, which is also a really big museum that has sculptures, art, jewelery, hats, and a bunch of other awesome things, most of which we didn't get to see since we got there just before they were closing and we got kicked out. Anna's friend Diana works at the V&A so we waited outside of the museum until she got off and then took a bus into the fancy/touristy/theatre part of London where we had a drink at a brewery called The Porterhouse. I really liked the atmosphere and the beer I got, which was a tasty strong ale with a dumb name (Brain Basha).

FINALLY (sort of) we attempted to eat dinner at a greek restaurant but the "queue" was going to be 30 minutes and Amy and I were informed that the english will not wait more than 5 minutes for a table. So off we went to try to find something with less of a wait, and decided to hit up a basement thai cafeteria kind of place called Wagamamas. It was a really interesting place because despite it being a madhouse we were seated pretty quickly and when we ordered the waiter put the order in on a palm pilot type thing and told us we would have our meals in 15 min. which we did. It was pretty awesome. I ordered a pad thai bowl and a chicken teryaki charcoal grilled skewer type thing which I enjoyed a lot. Amy took a bunch of pics with my phone which I compiled into a completely amazing animation for Anna (who thinks I talk about food too much):

All in all it was a very enjoyable day.

Time to sleep!
Cheers.
